SATURDAY CLUB 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024

There isn’t much to report except to say that the morning started off as normal with a quick brief on what would be happening.

Firstly apologies from John who unfortunately had no wheels to get him there.  Alan would be showing the October’s competition piece which would be a thinned wall bowl.

There was one request from Harry who asked if he could get help on making beads on flat disc type work so I took this on.  I also had a request to show a visitor the basics of woodturning, which took up the second half of the morning.
Coffee time came and the usual discussion about the next Saturday club took place but as I was standing down as the coordinator there may be a different format in future.  However, I did state that I would still be available to help on teaching or monitoring anyone who wanted help.
The morning finished with everyone helping in clearing up and putting away.
I would like to say thank you to all those who have helped with the running of the Saturday club since we started up again after Covid.

The last two items on the agenda having been discussed the meeting closed and everyone headed for refreshments. The meeting re-started by announcing the winners of the September Competition.
Richard then explained the system for choosing the items to go to the forthcoming SAWS Open Day competition. Just a reminder if the yellow sticker had a cross on it then that piece was selected, those lucky enough to be chosen were asked to bring their item back to the next club meeting in October. There was also the chairman’s challenge with prizes being awarded.
It was now time to introduce our speakers for the evening husband and wife team Eddie and Hayley from ODIE’S OIL (photo 6)
They gave a very good talk on all aspects of their products as well as demonstrating its ease of application and finishing. Explaining about the many types of Oils and the numerous number of powdered pigments that make up the full range of their product.
