CLUB NIGHT - SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER 2025
Unfortunately, there are no photos available from the club computer for September & October meetings so I am writing a summary of what happened on those nights.
Firstly, September was the AGM of the Association with all the usual business being discussed.
What I do have are photos for the presentation of the club trophies for the competition winners, which follow thanks to Mike Sharp:
All the photographs show the chairman Richard presenting the certificates and trophies to the winners of the monthly competitions. Photo number 1 is Steve Woodcock receiving his certificate and Mayor of Havant Shield for coming first in the Beginners competition. Photo is showing Brian Masters receiving his award plus the Don Smith Challenge cup for most advanced turner in the beginners as runner up to Steve. Photo 3 shows Alex Walls receiving his certificate for coming second in the Intermediates whilst Photo 4 is Don Cameron receiving the Woodturner of the Year Cup for coming first in the Intermediates.
Photo 5 shows again the chairman-presenting ken Briffett with a Life membership for his outstanding contribution to the club.
The AGM part of the evening came to a close it was time for refreshments whilst the Raffle took place.
Richard introduced Nigel as the demonstrator for the second half of the evening.
Nigel thanked everyone and introduced Julie who was going to help in the demonstration. (Unfortunately, I have no photos show of Nigel’s demo due to a fault with downloading from the club computer).
The demonstration was all about using RESIN in your work and the equipment that would be required to enable you to get the best results. I am not in a position to write anymore on the subject but if you need more information, I am sure Nigel would be very pleased to discuss it with you.
The next two photos 6 & 7 show the completion tables with the wonderful Mushroom Forest scenes.
The next set of photo show the clubs display tables from the SAWS Open Day plus a photo of the winning club.
Photos 8, 9, & 10 FOB tables and number 11 is SAWS winning display.

EVENING DEMONSTRATION WITH LES THORNE - OCTOBER 21ST 2025
After the usual notices and welcomes Steve Hugo standing for the chairman introduced Les to the members who welcomed him with the usual applause.
Les started by saying that it was nice to be back again and that this evening he would show how to make a lidded box. (Unfortunately, we have no photos)
Les went through many ways of making boxes explaining which tools to use to get the best results.
The evening finished with thanks to Les for an entertaining evening.
